[Leppo.FTW] [William Grobrecht Descendants.FTW] Obituary--The Evening Sun, Wednesday, May 31, 1995--Pennsylvania--JosephC. Gobrecht--Hanover--Joseph C. Gobrecht, 92, of 202 Diller Road, died6:15 a.m. Monday morning, May 29, 1995, at the Hanover General Hospital.He had been a patient at Hanover Hall Nursing Home for six weeks prior tohis death. He was the husband of Ruth V. (Stoner) Gobrecht. They wouldhave celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on June 5, 1995. BornFeb. 2, 1903, in Pine Grove, Union Township, Adams County, he was the sonof the late John A. and Emma (Stonesifer) Gobrecht. He was a member ofTrinity United Church of Christ in Hanover and was employed by theHanover Shoe Co., for over 50 years until his retirement. He played in17 different bands through the years, including the Hanover Little GermanBand and the Knights of Pythias which later became the Hanover Moose Bandof which he served as president for several years. He also taughttrombone and saxophone. He was the youngest and last living brother ofthe Six Gobrecht Brothers' Orchestra. He mostly played the trombone andalto horn. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge227. Surviving also are three daughters, Toppy G. Bell of Richardson,Texas, D. Roberta Lighty and Virginia G. Heath, both of York; 10grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a sister, Edna Sterner ofHanover. The funeral service will be held 1 p.m Friday at KenworthyFuneral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with his pastor, the Rev.Julian E. Hall, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery,Hanover. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeralhome. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons:Bruce Bell, Dr. Colin Bell, Dr. Terry Bell, Stephen Lighty, Dr. DennisHeath and Brandon Fuhrman. Memorial contributions may be made to TrinityUnited Church of Christ Building Fund, 116 York St., Hanover, PA 17331. |
