THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES of the EAST RIVER SAVINGS BANK at its Executive Committee Meeting, Thursday, March 25, 1943, ordered spread upon the minutes the following testimonial: WHEREAS Julius Heynen, Assistant Secretary, is retiring on and as of April 1, 1943; and WHEREAS Julius Heynen entered the employ of the former Maiden Lane Savings Bank on March 9, 1908, served such savings bank as a Trustee from May 6, 1920 to October 29, 1932, and as Vice President, Secretary and Manager thereof from October 10, 1929 to October 29, 1932, and ever since the last named date has served East River Savings Bank as Assistant Secretary; and WHEREAS Julius Heynen has for many years past contributed to the encouragement of thrift and to the develop ment of the savings bank movement, and, among other things, initiated in New York City the first so-called "Christmas Club" as a means toward encouraging thrift; and also in the course of his many years of service has attracted to himself a large circle of acquaintances and friends from among the depositors of the savings banks he has so served; and in addition, cultivated and made abiding friendships among his associates; now therefore be it RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of East River Savings Bank does hereby express to Julius Heynen its sense of appreciation for his conscientious attention and devotion to his duties to the Bank throughout his many years of service; and it does hereby express and extend to him its best wishes for good health, happiness and full capacity to enjoy life for many years to come following his retirement; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this testimonial, signed by the President and attested by the Secretary of East River Savings Bank, be presented to Mr. Julius Heynen.
