Note

Carl Theobald graduated from Columbia College, NY, in 1925.

He, his cousin, John Jacob Theobald, and his future brother-in-law. Louis W. H. Heynen, were all members of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity during their overlapping years as students at Columbia. They were also student athletes at the same time, Heynen and Carl on the crew team, Carl on the water polo team (and captain one year), and John on the track team (and captain one year). Both Carl and John remained at Columbia to take graduate degrees in engineering, Carl in 1927 and John in 1928.

Note

The 1940 US Census shows that this family lived in apartment in the building at 730 Riverside Drive, NY, NY. and that Virginia's parents, Julius and Clara Heynen, lived in an apartment on the same floor.
