Hettema passed away peacefully
Nov 5, 2008 at Alexander Cohen
Hospice House in Hughson, CA.
Born in Rochester, NY, he
moved to Honolulu, Hawaii
with his family as a young child.
He served in the Army Air
Corps during WWII as a gunner
and radio operator aboard B-17s
in the Pacific Theater over the
Solomon Islands, New Guinea
and Guadacanal. He was a pilot
with Hawaiian Airlines for 27
years.

Mike is survived by his sister,
of Kailua, Hawaii;
daughters Barbara Barkley
(Michael) of New Mexico;
Michelle Hettema Watt of
Mililani, HI; Gretchen Cramer
Gack (Fred) of Turlock; Nina
Hettema of Covelo, CA; 4 grand-
children and 2 great-grandsons;
also many nieces and nephews.
Mike truly enjoyed the many
friends he made while living at
Samaritan Village in his final
years.
