Shared note	from Jim Mortland: My memory of the family history came from my mother. She told the family that Sophia's name was changed from Jacoba the first day that Jacoba went to school in Paterson, N.J. According to my mother, Jacoba's first grade teacher on the first day of class told Jacoba, "Jacoba is an ugly name for such a pretty girl. I'm going to call you Sophie." The name stuck.
