Jeanne Christine Hellegers Wells, 88, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born and raised in Passaic, N.J., she was the youngest daughter of the late George DeGroot Hellegers and Adrianna (Jennie) Heerschap.

Jeanne was very loving, kind and generous and a devout Christian. She was a wonderful friend, mother, spouse, aunt and grandmother. She was the church secretary in St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 25 years until retirement. Jeanne also Worked at RCA in Mountain Top prior to St. Paul's. She enjoyed the fellowship of her many church friends over the years, was a Sunday School teacher at Christ United Methodist Church and was involved in Brownies and Girl Scouting. Jeanne enjoyed sewing and baking (her famous Danish were popular items at the church bazaar) and also writing the annual family Christmas Letter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Robert Wells (1927-2004), Detroit, Mich.; and her parents; siblings; and aunts and uncles. Her siblings were Thomas Anthony Hellegers II, Geraldeen Hellegers Dingfield and Katherine Bella Hellegers Pryor.

She is survived by her children, Bruce Wells and wife, Terri Wells, Pennsylvania; Katherine Gundrum, Pennsylvania; and Rebecca Maiatico and husband, Michael Maiatico Maryland; grandchildren, Michael Wells, Maryland; David and Charlotte Swerdon, Pennsylvania; Elizabeth and Scott Roslund, South Carolina; Amy and Matt Jardin, South Carolina; Sarah and Peter Woodman, South Carolina; Thomas Wells, Maryland; Matthew and Rajani Maiatico, California; Brian Wells and fiancé, Lauren Gray, Maryland; Gwen Gundrum, Pennsylvania; Michael Maiatico, New York; Jeffrey Gundrum, Pennsylvania; Christine and Kyle Slemmons, Virginia; 10 great-grandchildren also survive; along with a sister-in-law, Nancy Wells, Ohio; and the following nieces and nephews, Tom Hellegers, New York; Barbara Hellegers Belford, North Carolina; Jay Hellegers, New York; Richard Hellegers, Massachusets; Elizabeth Pryor Betts, Tennessee; Christie Caldwell, Ohio; Jay Caldwell, Ohio; Scott Caldwell, Ohio; Virginia Dingfield Barnett, Pennsylvania; Geraldine Dingfield Wildes, Pennsylvania; Katherine Dingfield Lachette, Pennsylvania; John Wells, Florida; Gina Wells Allen, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Interment will follow in Albert Cemetery.
