[Leppo.FTW] [William Grobrecht Descendants.FTW] Obituary--The Evening Sun, Saturday, May 18, 1935--Girl Musician HereHas Untimely Death--Dorothy Gobrecht, Daughter Of Mr. and Mrs. EmoryGobrecht, Dies At Age Of 14--Dorothy Ellen Gobrecht, fourteen-year-olddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emory A. Gobrecht, and a well-known musician,died last evening at 5 o'clock at the home of her parents, 27 WestChestnut street. She had been in ill health for the past two years andhad been critically ill since January 1. She had been a patient at theJohn Hopkins hospital, Baltimore, for four weeks, and during her illnesshad undergone six blood transfusions. From early childhood she had beenproficient in music, playing the cornet and clarinet, and appeared asinstrumental soloist on many occasions. She was a member of theorchestra of Trinity Reformed Sunday school, directed by her father, andthe orchestra of Lischey's church, near Spring Grove. She was alsoaffiliated with other musical organizations. She was a last year studentin the Hanover Junior High school., and played in the Junior High Schoolband and was a member of the school glee club. She was a member of theclass of Trinity Reformed Sunday school taught by Mrs. Robert Hamm, andhad been a member for this year's confirmation class. Unable to beconfirmed with her class on palm Sunday, her pastor, the Rev. Dr. M. J.Roth, went to her home and received her into church membership.surviving are her parents, Emory A. and Ada Schriver Gobrecht; herpaternal grandfather, John A. Gobrecht, McAllister street, and hermaternal grandmother, Mrs. Ellen Schriver, New Oxford. The funeral willbe held Sunday afternoon. Brief services will be conducted at the homeat 1.30 o'clock. Further services will be held at 2 o'clock in thechapel of Trinity Reformed church, owing to repairs being made to thechurch organ. The Rev. Dr. Marsby J. Roth, pastor, will officiate.Burial will be made in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The body may be viewed atthe home this evening from 7 to 9 o'clock. |
