American Biography:

Peter Rutgers (3) Kissam, son of Peter Rutgers (2) and Amanda (Paul)
Kissam, was born in Saratoga, New York, died January 14, 1900, and
was buried in Greenwood Cemetery. He was engaged in banking all his
life, and for half a century, he was in the employ of the National
Bank of Commerce, of New York City, reaching the cashier's desk,
and there continuing until his passing. He was a member of Acanthus
Lodge, No. 719, Free and Accepted Masons; the New York Historical
Society ; and was a member of the Episcopal church. He was a man
of high standing in the financial world, and was an authority on
matters of finance and national banking law, his advice being sought
by men of high standing, and his judgment meeting with deference.
The Kissams were a power in the financial world of their day, not
the least important being Peter R. (3) Kissam. He married Angeline
B. Hill, and they were the parents of Frank Rutgers, to whose memory
this review is offered.
