She died on 1 Aug 1750 in Whitestone Point, Flushing, Long Island, NY. She was Quaker. Philip V. Thorne Notes: I have a copy of her signature from a Quaker Wedding Certificate; this also includes signatures of several other family members. Martha Johanna Bowne and Joseph Thorne were married in Flushing at the home of her sister Hannah Bowne and her husband Benjamin Field. Martha Johanna Bowne Thorne was named after her aunt Martha Johanna Wintrhop, daughter of Henry Winthrop (son of Governor John Winthrop) and Elizabeth Ffones Winthrop (That Winthrop Woman).
