American Biography:

John Kissam, who was born in 1644, of English ancestry, and settled
at Great Neck, Long Island, February 4, 1678. His name in early records
is spelled "Ocasson," "Ockeson," and "Okeson," but in a deed of part
of this Great Neck farm made to his son, Daniel, he wrote his name
"Kissam."

KISSAM FAMILY

This family name was originally in England and Wales written "Casson";
later, in Ireland, with the prefix of an "O"; later still, in Amsterdam,
Holland, it was spelt and written by the refugees, "Ockerson," and
is so written in the early records at Albany, N. Y.

dated July 10, 1667, for marriage with Susannah, daughter of William
