Windmueller Family Chronicle:

JOSEPH MEYER WINDMULLER 121

b. 1736 in Rheda, d. after 1808 probably in Rheda. Married about
December 1764 to BELLA GUMPERT, b. 1742 probably in Minden, d. probably
in Rheda, daughter of Gumpert Philip in Minden. Gumpert Phillip died
1764-65 in Minden. Joseph Meyer Windmuller was one of the three
'Vorsteher" of the congregation of Rheda in 1808 (together with Jacob
Moses and Abraham Leser).

In the "Letter of Protection" for Joseph Meyer Windmiiller dated
July 16, 1764 for Rheda, it is written "er solle von allen Lasten
befreit, und vor aller unbilligen Gewalt geschiitzt sein" (He should
be freed of all liabilities and should be protected from unwarranted
attacks).

After a long court procedure in 1764, Joseph Meyer Windmuller had
to move out of the house which he had illegally acquired from J.
H. Zurlaage, having given Zurlaage a large deposit for the rental
of the house with a very long lease time, thus de facto buying the
house which was forbidden to a Jew. The court interpreted this leasing
arrangement as a conscious attempt to evade the law.
The five descendants of Joseph Meyer Windmuller and Bella Gumpert:

  • FRADELCHEN WINDMULLER 121-1 b. 1766, d. date unknown.

LEVI JOSEPH WINDMULLER (Leibche ben Yosef Haievi) 121-2 b. 1775 in
Rheda, d. date unknown.

  • PHILIP JOSEPH WINDMULL
