DAR application: Fini Heynen's transcription of the original discharge paper of Thomas Lenington. This is to certify that the Bearer Thomas Lenington did voluntarily enlist in my Regiment in Captain Nicholsons Company in the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy five and did the duty of a Serjeant till the Regiment was dismissed in Canada, when by his good behavior he was promoted as Ensign in Col. Nicholsons Regiment, in which Station he served faithfully untill the eighth of May one thousand seven hundred and seventy six, at which time he was taken prisoner below Point Levy, when in Command, and before he was exchanged the said regiment was disbanded by which he was left out of the service. Florence Hadley Heynen: "Thomas Lennington was director of the Farmers and Mechanics Bank of Albany. In 1814, 1815, and 1816 Albany City Directories John Thorne was a clerk in the same bank. I suspect that John Thorne married Abby Lenington about 1814 because their son John Edmund Thorne was born about 1815."
