William Van Wyck and his wife, Lydia Maverick, had four sons and
two daughters. The eldest, Samuel, became a physician. At the outbreak
of the civil war he was appointed Surgeon of Col. N.B. Forest's regiment
of Confederate calvalry. He was killed in battle. His widow and
two sons survive him and are now living Anderson, S.C.
