Florence Hadley Heynen: "There are one Lutheran and eight Catholic parishes in the city of Munster, Westfalen, Prussia, whre it is said that he, Henry Lefman, was born. Henry Lefman was not in the birth records . There was a government record kept of the births of "Juden and Dissedent." Since Henry was a merchant and came from Germany to New York in the time period he did, it is quite likely that he was Jewish." Unfortunately, there is no birth record for Henry, but a record for a possible brother, Abraham Lefman, shows him to be Jewish.
