KISSAM FAMILY This family name was originally in England and Wales written "Casson"; later, in Ireland, with the prefix of an "O"; later still, in Amsterdam, Holland, it was spelt and written by the refugees, "Ockerson," and is so written in the early records at Albany, N. Y. First Generation JOHN KISSAM; of Flushing, L. I, 1644; of English origin; had a license dated July 10, 1667, for marriage with Susannah, daughter of William Thorne, of Jamaica, L. I.
